One of the most rewarding parts of building ClockworX has been watching people grow within the business. Abi is a wonderful example of that.
She has been part of the ClockworX team for more than five years, progressing from Bookkeeper to Onboarder and now Team Leader. With each move, she has built new skills, taken on more responsibility and developed a deeper understanding of our clients and our business.
Her journey reflects something that has always been important to me. I want ClockworX to be a place where good people can build genuine, long-term careers.
Starting As A Bookkeeper
Abi joined ClockworX as a Bookkeeper, working directly with our systems and processes and developing a strong understanding of the businesses we support.
Bookkeeping gave her an important foundation. She learned how our clients operate, why accuracy and timeliness matter, and how good financial processes make life easier for the people running a business. Her reliability, attention to detail and willingness to learn quickly became clear.
As her experience and confidence grew, so did the opportunities available to her.
Moving Into ClockworX Onboarding
Abi’s next step was into our Onboarding team, helping new clients make the transition to ClockworX. Onboarding requires a broader view of a business.
You need to understand how things are currently being done, identify what needs to change and make sure the right systems, processes and responsibilities are established from the beginning.
There is also a very human side to it. Changing bookkeeping providers can feel like a significant undertaking for a business owner. There can be years of processes, information and ways of working to understand.
A good Onboarder brings structure and clarity to that process and makes the transition feel manageable.
Abi’s bookkeeping experience gave her the technical understanding, while her knowledge of ClockworX allowed her to connect our clients, Client Managers and bookkeeping teams effectively.
Stepping Up As A Team Leader
Abi has since progressed into the role of Team Leader. Leadership brings another new set of responsibilities. She now supports other members of our team, helps manage priorities, maintains the quality of our work and provides practical guidance when challenges arise.
Having worked across bookkeeping and onboarding, Abi understands the work from several perspectives. That experience is valuable when she is helping others develop their own skills and careers.
Building Careers At ClockworX, Not Just Roles
Abi’s story is also part of something I am particularly proud of at ClockworX.
Our Philippines-based team are ClockworX employees. They are part of our business, our culture and our long-term plans.
We employ, train and support our people directly. We invest in their development, create opportunities for progression and encourage them to build careers within ClockworX.
For Our New Zealand Clients, Continuity Matters.
When people stay with a business, they build knowledge. They understand our systems, our standards and the way we work. They develop stronger relationships with the wider ClockworX team and a deeper understanding of what good bookkeeping looks like for New Zealand businesses. This creates consistency and accountability, which are both important when you are trusting someone with such a critical part of your business.
I am proud that many of our team have been with ClockworX for a long time. We have deliberately worked to create an environment where people feel supported, valued and able to keep developing.
Growing A Career Alongside ClockworX
As ClockworX has grown, so have the opportunities within our team.
Not everyone will follow the same path as Abi. Different people have different strengths and ambitions, and that is exactly how it should be. What matters to me is that people have the opportunity to learn, take on new challenges and see where their abilities can take them.
Over more than five years, Abi has grown alongside ClockworX and become an important part of our team. I am very proud of the progression she has made from Bookkeeper to Onboarder and now Team Leader. Her journey is a great example of the capable people we have within ClockworX, and why continuing to invest in them matters so much.
